President Police Medal to IG RPF

New Delhi (wairless News) Shri A.N. Sinha, IG/RPF/North Central Railway, Prayagraj has been awarded President Police Medal for Distinguished Service on the occasion of Republic Day, 2025. Shri Sinha was earlier conferred with Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 2012 and National Award for Outstanding Service by Hon’ble Minister of Railways in 2009.
He has served in different parts of country after being selected through UPSC in 1989. During his service, in RPF he was posted all over India- Lumding & Tinsukia in Assam, Vishakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, Kharagpur in West Bengal, Hyderabad & Secunderabad in Telangana, Bangalore in Karnataka, Additional Chief Security Commissioner in Chennai, Inspector General-cum-Principal Chief Security Commissioner in Konkan Railway, Maharashtra, IG-cum-Principal Chief Security Commissioner/Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh.
In Lumding Division, several criminals, who were involved in theft of booked consignment were arrested during raids conducted directly under his personal supervision. In 1994, he was transferred to Tinsukia Division when his predecessor was threatened by the extremist organization, ULFA. But he courageously led the force and during one operation at Dimapur Railway station in Nagaland, he recovered more than 250 bullets.
As DSC/Waltair, during the period 1996-2000, theft cases came down from more than 500 cases in a year to less than 50 cases in a year. In Bangalore and Kharagpur Divisions, Shri Sinha contributed by removing several encroachments from Railway land, thereby saving land worth several crores.
As Dy CSC/Secunderabad, he initiated several innovative measures for improving RPF Training Centre/Moula-Ali in recognition of which the officer was awarded National Award for Outstanding Service. He led the force during the Telangana Agitation at Secunderabad Division and ensured smooth running of trains without any major incident of violence. At SECR, Sri Sinha coordinated effectively with Police in LWE affected areas of Chhattisgarh.

Presently the officer is involved in ensuring security arrangements in Railway areas during Maha Kumbh at Prayagraj.
