Ambikapur Airport Receives Category 3C VFR Licence
In another milestone, Ambikapur Airport has been granted a Category 3C VFR licence, thanks to the efforts spearheaded by Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai. Following the submission of an application for licensing in December 2022, the Director General of Civil Aviation, Government of India, issued the much-awaited licence for Ambikapur Airport on March 15, 2024. With this licence, Ambikapur Airport joins Bilaspur and Jagdalpur airports as part of the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) in the state. The Category 3C VFR licence allows for the operation of air services from Ambikapur Airport, catering to a 72-seater aircraft.
The state government is actively pursuing the initiation of air services from Ambikapur Airport to destinations including Raipur, Bilaspur, Lucknow, Patna, and Ranchi. The commencement of flights from Ambikapur Airport is poised to stimulate tourism and commercial activities in the northern region of the state, fostering overall development in the area.
